Step-by-step support · Recording

Create snapshots and animated recorded previews

Choose the right still or short animated output and verify its source.

Choose the output

Open Snapshots, select the camera and format, and optionally enter a name. JPEG snapshot captures one new frame from the camera. Animated recording preview (GIF) automatically uses up to three seconds of the latest confirmed recording, with no audio; this form does not select an interval. Choose Add Snapshot or Create animated preview to submit.

Check the policy

Review current privacy masks and automatic-preview preferences before creating output. Previously saved media does not change when a new policy is saved.

Wait for completion

Follow the job state, then open the snapshot gallery result. GIF animation starts explicitly in the gallery; camera cards and privacy-editor thumbnails stay still.

Review the result

Check the scene and visible masks. A GIF comes from saved footage; its creation time does not establish when the scene was recorded or whether the camera is online now. Use the recorded timeline and clip export when you need a particular interval or more context.

What success looks like

A still or animated result shows the intended owned source and respects the applicable output policy.

If it does not work

Recorded previews require actual confirmed segments within the supported bounds. A missing source or failed job must not silently fall back to another live camera.
