PROVE YOUR SETUP BEFORE YOU COMMIT

One camera. One verified recording.

  1. 01

    Choose the connection route.

Create an account. For a camera on your local network, set up CamBackup Gateway on a supported always-on computer or Raspberry Pi. An already reachable supported feed can connect directly.

  2. 02

    Find and check the video.

Enter the camera address in the connection assistant or gateway and test the feed. The assistant checks supported profiles and confirms decoded video. Save the working connection, then open live view.

  3. 03

    Verify the saved footage.

Choose recording access and privacy settings, start capture, then play a saved moment and download a clip. A live picture alone does not prove that footage is being stored.

A camera or NVR must expose a supported live feed. ONVIF helps find connection settings; it is not a compatibility guarantee. A gateway cannot unlock a proprietary app-only camera.

Connect your first camera

What to check before you connect

A live feed from your existing setup

Enter a camera address or supported stream URL. The connection assistant can try available profiles and check for usable video. A compatible NVR can supply a live channel; its stored archive is not synchronized.

A route from your camera to the cloud

Use a reachable supported stream, or run the outbound gateway on supported hardware on the camera network. The gateway device must stay on while forwarding. App-only cameras do not become compatible just by adding a gateway.

A browser app for viewing

Use CamBackup in your browser or add its web app to a supported device’s home screen. Viewing needs an internet connection. Installation and optional alerts depend on the browser and operating system.

Good questions. Clear answers.

Will CamBackup work with my camera or NVR?

It needs a compatible live feed, such as RTSP or supported HTTP video. Enter its address and test it with the connection assistant; ONVIF can help find a profile. A local camera may need CamBackup Gateway. App-only cameras are not automatically compatible. CamBackup records from live feeds; it does not sync an NVR’s existing archive.

What happens during an internet or power outage?

Already saved cloud footage remains off-site. Video that never reached the service cannot be recovered by the cloud; the timeline shows gaps. The gateway can record locally when explicitly enabled and while its device and camera remain powered. Local recordings are separate and do not backfill the cloud timeline. Optional emails report a sustained recording outage and recovery.

When do I choose and pay for a recording plan?

Create a free account and test a compatible camera first. Check the recording access shown in your dashboard and choose a plan for each camera you want recorded. Subscription details are confirmed before payment; contact us if you need help. Saving a card does not itself start a subscription. Cancellation stops new paid recording; existing footage remains available within retention and storage limits.
